Description
In the heart of the Land of Herve, Aubel offers tourists a landscape of orchards and walking trails, as well as a particularly noteworthy heritage.
In the center of the village, a few remarkable houses bear witness to the past wealth of this small town, whose market was the main commercial hub of the Land of Herve for many centuries. This market still exists and is now held twice a week: on Tuesdays and Sundays.
The Sunday market attracts large crowds every week. Aubel’s dual tradition – agricultural and entrepreneurial – has given rise to the remarkable agri-food prosperity that defines the town today. As soon as you venture into the countryside, solid and stately farms dot a landscape of hedgerows and pastures.
And if you head west, you’ll discover the Abbey of Val-Dieu, founded in the 13th century, located at the confluence of the Bel and the Berwinne. To help you explore these treasures (and many more), the Tourist Office welcomes you in the heart of Aubel.
